It’s very important to open a Swiss bank account quickly as you will need it to finalise the rental contract for your accommodation in Geneva. If you plan to visit Geneva before settling in, take the opportunity to open a bank account.

The Welcome Center has contacts with a couple of agencies to help you in this process.

Documents required to open a bank account:

• Identity card or passport
• Swiss residence/work permit or certificate from the Office cantonal de la population.

If you have not yet received your residence/work permit, please contact the Welcome Center.

Once you have a Swiss bank account, you will be able to install the TWINT application and the E-Banking application, depending on your bank’s choice.
