You must have your permit residence to exchange your driving license. If you are coming from abroad, you will have to change your driving license within 12 months. Depending on the country, your diving license will either be issued immediately or you will have to take driving test. Please note that Geneva, travelling by car is not recommended, as finding parking can be difficult.

There are “white car zones” and “blue car zones” available. White zones are usually paid for by the hour and blue zones are free but limited in time (to 1 hour, 3 hours or 15 hours, depending on the street). you can find more info on this page (in French only).

Furthermore, if you would like to park on a blue zone for 5 hours straight or even for a whole day, you can purchase half day or daily authorisations. A half day costs CHF10.- and full day CHF20.- . Please note that the authorisation will be given to you but if there are no spaces on the day, then you will not be reimbursed.
