University residences offer more affordable accommodation, but they are often fully booked.

Unfortunately, the aglae.ch website, which lists most of the residences in Geneva, is no longer operational.

The residences managed directly by the University of Geneva are reserved for bachelor’s and master’s students.

With the exception of the following residences, which are reserved for individuals registered as PhD students at UNIGE or postdoctoral researchers who have received a Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship.

• The Tronchet residence, located in Thônex, with furnished individual studios. Rent and expenses are CHF 1’150.- all inclusive.
• The Champel residence, located near the University Medical Centre, with shared flats. Each flat has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and the rent is CHF 950.- all inclusive. Priority is given to students from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva.

For more information regarding the eligibility criteria, please read the housing assignment guidelines (only available in French) carefully. Please check you are below the allowed revenue threshold.
